The Signature Service Intensive is a 6-week side-by-side engagement focused on turning your hard-earned expertise into a niche, repeatable consulting service based on your unique IP.

What is IP exactly?

A consultant’s intellectual property typically consists of proprietary frameworks, processes, or playbooks, derived from your distinct set of experiences, that you can use to structure and solve a particular client problem. Once created, your IP is an evergreen asset that can serve as both the foundation of your consulting practice and your differentiator.

At the end of the Intensive, you will have:

  • A turnkey, ready-to-sell productized service to attract new client relationships

How it works:

Six weeks from IP discovery to deployment

The Signature Service Intensive consists of:

  • One two-hour kickoff session

  • Five weekly 1-hour working sessions

  • Async iteration and coaching in-between sessions

  • Professional graphic design support

  • During our kickoff, we’ll deep-dive into your career & consulting experiences to-date, unpack where you’ve added the most value, and explore without limitation the types of work that drive your energy

    In the subsequent discovery sessions, we’ll begin synthesizing the through-lines of your experiences and insights into your unique IP

    This is a process I’ve honed over hundreds of hours of discovery with dozens of tech executives and other industry experts

    Most experts I work with have never tried this type of dedicated reflection and synthesis with a thought partner, and are surprised at the gems we uncover in a short time together

    After each session, you’ll receive a written summary of what we discussed, as well as a growing visual mapping of the emerging IP, including artifact mockups

    Between sessions, we’ll iterate async to continue synthesizing our conversations into actionable frameworks and processes that encapsulate your valuable expertise

  • As your IP firms up, we’ll shift gears to design a signature service built around that IP for a specific ideal client profile (ICP)

    This service could look like a proprietary diagnostic, project, or advisory service - each optimized for repeatability within your niche

    We’ll craft an abstract of the new service which you’ll take on an informal listening tour to validate and modify. Don’t worry - this sounds scary, but it’s actually fun and enlightening!

  • As we conclude, we’ll have your IP professionally polished into visual assets by a brilliant, retained graphic designer

    These assets will become shareable thought leadership and marketing content for your new service.

    Finally, we’ll create an outbound roadmap to set you in motion building your brand around your newly codified IP and signature service!

  • The fee for the 6-week Intensive is $10,000 USD. This is comparable in price to ~2 months of premium business coaching, provides hands-on co-creation of your positioning, IP and productized service, and includes professionally-designed visual assets as hard outputs.

    Many consultants will recoup this one-time investment in as little as one client engagement, while the IP, proprietary service, and visual assets will continue to work for you in perpetuity.

  • This is not an outsourced service. This is a “side-by-side” engagement requiring active participation. I’ll take the lead on IP discovery and synthesis, but you’ll take the driver’s seat as the weeks progress.

    You should expect to spend roughly 3-5 hours weekly between sessions iterating on the IP & service hypothesis, conducting listening tour interviews, reviewing design proofs, etc. Remember, we’re re-orienting your business, and on an intentionally short timeframe.

  • All intro calls, kickoffs and discovery sessions are confidential, and all resulting assets and IP remain exclusively yours.

    Discovery sessions will be recorded and auto-transcribed for purposes of IP codification. These recordings will be accessible only to you and me throughout the process, and will be yours to keep.

  • The majority of experts I work with are in growth, marketing, product, and executive functions serving tech or tech-adjacent companies.

    That said, the expertise extraction process is the same regardless of your field. Just in the last year, I’ve codified IP across a broad range of topics from AI to SEO to climate regulations!
